Mechanical Engineer Job Description We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical and electromechanical solutions for autonomous and underwater systems, supporting military and commercial oceanographic products. This role owns mechanical designs across the full product lifecycleu2014from concept and analysis through prototyping, testing, integration, and manufacturing transitionu2014while working closely with crossu2011functional teams. Key Responsibilities + Lead system and subsystem mechanical design for underwater and marine applications + Design, analyze, prototype, and validate mechanical and electromechanical solutions + Select materials suitable for underwater environments with corrosion considerations + Perform structural analysis; FEA experience strongly preferred + Design electronic packaging for harsh marine environments + Create and maintain 3D CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks/AutoCAD + Support new product development and production manufacturing (DFMA) + Build and test prototypes and fixtures + Manage technical documentation, PDM data, and cost/labor estimates + Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and business teams Required Qualifications + 5+ years mechanical engineering experience (or equivalent per degree) + Strong SolidWorks proficiency + Experience with underwater or marine product design + Knowledge of corrosionu2011resistant materials and electronic packaging + Handsu2011on prototyping and manufacturing support experience + DFMA and PDM/EPDM experience + Ability to obtain a security clearance Work Environment + Fully onsite in Plymouth, MA + Mix of design, documentation, lab, and shop work + Collaborative, crossu2011functional engineering environment Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Plymouth, MA.
