New Country Day Camp is a 7-week, outdoor summer camp for campers in kindergarten-8th grade. NCDC operates M-F, 8am-5pm, and provides transportation for staff and campers to and from our campgrounds on Staten Island via multiple locations throughout Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. NCDC is a neurodiverse camp community, and all staff members are responsible for supporting neurodivergent and neurotypical campers and staff to have successful summers. We are seeking a Division and Camper Care Manager who will supervise Division Supervisors for the seven age divisions at camp and coordinate projects, logistics, systems and trainings that will prepare them and their staff to successfully execute their crucial roles at camp in the areas of customer service, staff supervision, and camper care. This role will be part-time during pre-camp (March-June) and full-time during camp program (June-August) The daily rate for this position is $240.000 RESONSIBILITIES Pre-Camp Planning u2022 Support Associate Director in interviewing and selecting candidates for Division Supervisor positions u2022 Work with leadership team to create and update staff trainings for direct reports and their division counselors for staff orientation beginning in June u2022 Work with leadership team to develop plans for large scale events including staff orientation, pre-camp tours, pre-camp family meet and greet, Shabbat, rain days, etc. u2022 Oversee grouping process for 800+ campers and flag for allergies, behavioral issues, and friend requests u2022 Collaborate with Community Engagement Manager and Associate Director to update and share Family Handbook with families in the weeks leading up to camp u2022 Be present at all Staff Orientations and family events u2022 Collaborate with various members of leadership team to create staff trainings with a specific focus on families and camper care, as well as child development, counselor job responsibilities, and working with neurodivergent campers At Camp u2022 Meet weekly with Division Supervisors for formal check ins, conduct daily informal check ins, and mentor them throughout the summer. u2022 Meet with Camper Care team daily to proactively plan for camper needs, collaborate on support strategies, and thoughtfully debrief key moments from the camp day. u2022 Participate in weekly Camper Care Meetings at camp to review behavioral trends and group dynamics across divisions, identify areas of concern, and determine clear next steps. u2022 Manage completion of all Division Supervisorsu2019 weekly tasks u2022 Oversee communications and maintain high quality of customer service between Division staff and families during the camp season u2022 Serve as point person for elevated camper needs and parent communication u2022 Act as a key resource for Division Supervisors navigating elevated or sensitive staff performance and conduct concerns; provide guidance to support resolution at the appropriate level, and determine when escalation to the Associate Director is warranted. u2022 Collaborate with Support Program Manager daily to ensure needs of all campers are met through a successful Division Supervisor and Support Supervisor partnership u2022 Collaborate with leadership team to ensure staff are set up for success to meet camper needs u2022 In collaboration with Programs Manager and Division Supervisors, oversee division programming logistics and overall programmatic needs u2022 Gather weekly summaries from Division Teams regarding programmatic updates to share with Community Engagement Manager for weekly blog and email content u2022 Ensure Division Supervisors adequately prepare counselors to work with their specific campers from session to session u2022 Maintain and exhibit a role of leadership at all times as a member of NCDCu2019s Key Staff u2022 Be present at all days of orientation, camp and staff meetings during the camp season u2022 Proactively problem solve and motivate colleagues as difficult moments present themselves throughout the camp season; encourage flexibility and understanding as means to achieve common goals u2022 Establish and promote a commitment to the mission and vision of New Country Day Camp QUALIFICATIONS u2022 Bacheloru2019s Degree in Education, Social Work, or related field required.
