Job Summary The School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for an Associate Dean for Student and Academic Affairs, Associate or Full Professor, either tenured or Academic Professional Track. This position is expected to start September 1, accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The School of Social Work (School) at The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Associate Dean for Student & Academic Affairs. This pivotal role requires a deep commitment to academic excellence and student success, the strategic vision to advance the School’s mission and priorities, and strong leadership skills to manage a large student-centered team. The Associate Dean is part of the Dean’s Senior Leadership Team.1. Strategic Vision and Leadership: Develop and refine the School’s academic and student success priorities. Provide leadership in achieving the School’s mission and educational strategic goals. 2. Budget Oversight: Manage and oversee a significant budget to support academic and student services initiatives. 3. Operational Management: Oversee daily operations of undergraduate and graduate programs. Support the leadership in the offices of Practicum Education, Academic Advising, and Student Affairs. 4. Team Supervision:Provide supervision to the leaders of undergraduate and graduate programs, Academic Affairs, Practicum Education, Academic Advising, and Student Affairs. 5. Accreditation, Assessment, and Compliance: Lead reaffirmation requirements and processes from the Council on Social Work Education, University, and SACSCOC. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and requirements. Manage report preparation. Oversee the design and implementation of assessment indices to ensure student learning and accreditation requirements. 6. Course and Faculty Management: Oversee the academic course schedule and faculty teaching assignments. Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs to support instructional development for faculty. Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs to inform annual faculty evaluations with respect to teaching and mentoring students. 7. Collaborative Leadership: Work collaboratively with University and School administrators to promote the School’s vision, mission, values, and strategic goals. Develop academic programs that align with workforce needs and leverage the School’s expertise. 8. Policy Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise policies and procedures to strengthen the School’s strategic direction and educational standards. Ensure relevant standardization across academic programs. 9. Student Success: Demonstrate accountability for student success including curriculum delivery, student persistence, graduation rates, and satisfaction. Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and academic policies. Champion a culture of student engagement initiatives that promote belonging and professional development across all students (in-person and virtual) populations. 10. Mentorship and Resource Management: Serve as a resource, mentor, and policy interpreter for faculty, staff, and students. Collaborate with the Academic and Student Affairs team to foster an exceptional student experience. 11. Committee Participation: Serve on University and School committees. Appoint and oversee committees or task forces addressing academic affairs issues. 12. Curriculum Oversight: Maintain content for the University Catalog. Provide leadership on curriculum development, implementation, and assessment. 13. Faculty and Student Initiatives: Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs to support initiatives enhancing faculty, staff, and student success. Lead initiatives to enhance the student experience and support timely program completion. Required Qualifications PhD in Social Work (or closely aligned field) or DSW. MSW with a minimum of 2 years of post-MSW practice experience. Demonstrated 3 years of leadership experience in an academic setting, preferably in a CSWE accredited social work program. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and oversee operational functions. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to belonging and engagement, and a supportive work environment. Appointment at Associate/Full Professor with tenure or Associate/Full Professor of Practice (non-tenure track) Preferred Qualifications Strong understanding of CSWE and SACSCOC accreditation processes and standards. Demonstrated 5 years of leadership experience in an academic setting, preferably in a CSWE accredited social work program.
