This position involves preparing equipment, educating patients, performing imaging procedures, and maintaining quality control standards. The role also includes ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines, assisting with interventional procedures, and providing superior patient care across various age groups.Essential FunctionsReviews patient history and physician orders; educates patient regarding procedures to ensure understanding and cooperationPositions patient and performs imaging procedures, including biopsies and stereotactic proceduresMonitors patient condition continually and responds to changes as appropriateImplements safety protocols and performs quality control checks on imaging equipmentAnalyzes imaging results for quality and accuracy, takes corrective action as necessaryEnters and transmits scan results; maintains accurate patient records and documentationAssists with interventional procedures, including needle localization and fine needle aspirationEnsures compliance with Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and other relevant regulationsTroubleshoots equipment malfunctions and reports issues to the supervisorParticipates in safety training and follows protocols for exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materialsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsDemonstrates superior interpersonal and communication skills with patients and team membersAbility to perform critical thinking and decisive judgment in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changing prioritiesProficiency in the use of imaging software and mammography tracking systemsKnowledge of infection control procedures and radiation safety standardsPhysical ability to lift and move patients, and perform frequent bending, stooping, and reachingAbility to handle exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous chemicals safelyMaintains confidentiality of patient information and adheres to hospital policies and proceduresParticipates in ongoing training and professional developmentMaintains exam rooms and equipment in a clean and organized conditionAttends departmental meetings and safety briefings as requiredQualificationsEducationGraduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program, requiredMust hold ARRT certification in Radiography and Mammography (M), requiredCompletion of 200 mammograms within a 24-month period, preferredLicenses/CertificationsActive state Radiologic Technologist license, requiredBasic Life Support (BLS) certification, requiredSCRQSA registration (if applicable), requiredExperienceMinimum of one year of general radiography experience, preferredMinimum of two years of experience in Mammography, preferredDemonstrated experience in quality assurance and quality control in mammography, preferred
