What Youu2019ll Do + Perform structural welding in a dry dock environment following engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications + Fabricate and assemble metal structures and components using multiple welding processes + Utilize MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core welding techniques for various structural applications + Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment to ensure safe, efficient performance + Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to welding + Apply mechanical skills to rigging, general layout, plasma cutting, and related fabrication tasks + Operate a forklift to safely move materials, components, and equipment as needed + Inspect welds and finished assemblies for quality, accuracy, and conformance to codes and project requirements + Follow all applicable welding codes, standards, and safety regulations + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper tool and material handling + Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and deadlines + Identify and report equipment issues, material defects, or safety concerns promptly What You Bring Required Skills & Experience + Proven experience in structural welding or fabrication in a construction or industrial environment + Strong proficiency with MIG welding , including equipment setup and operation + Handsu2011on experience with TIG welding across varying materials and thicknesses + Handsu2011on experience with Stick welding for structural applications + Proficiency using Flux Core welding techniques + Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications + Mechanical aptitude for rigging, layout, and plasma cutting tasks + Ability to safely operate a forklift for material movement + Thorough understanding of welding safety practices and code compliance + Strong attention to detail when inspecting welds and finished work + Physical ability to work in a dry dock and construction environment, including standing for long periods and handling materials Preferred Qualifications + Prior experience welding in dry docks, shipyards, or heavy industrial settings + Experience in structural steel fabrication or construction welding + Familiarity with general construction practices related to steel and metal fabrication + Ability to work efficiently in a fastu2011paced, productionu2011driven environment + Strong teamwork and communication skills + Reliable attendance and ability to meet mandatory work schedules Why Youu2019ll Want This Role + Put your welding skills to work on largeu2011scale structural projects + Work in an environment that values craftsmanship, safety, and teamwork + Gain experience across multiple welding processes and fabrication tasks + Enjoy a consistent, predictable schedule that supports longu2011term stability + Continue building a broad, versatile skill set in structural welding and fabrication Work Environment & Schedule + Location: Dry dock / constructionu2011style industrial environment + Schedule: + Mondayu2013Friday: 6:00 AM u2013 4:00 PM + Mandatory Saturdays: 6:00 AM u2013 2:30 PM + Work includes exposure to heavy equipment, structural steel, welding machines, plasma cutters, and forklifts + Environment may include noise, metal dust, and variable temperatures + Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided as applicable Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Suffolk, VA.
