Job Title: Specimen Accessioner Responsibilities + Introduce and prepare biological specimens for laboratory processing to ensure accurate analysis and testing. + Open specimen containers and pour samples into appropriate secondary containers in preparation for testing. + Verify that patient demographic information matches the test requisition forms submitted with each specimen. + Accurately enter patient and specimen information into the computer system for tracking and documentation. + Meet key production metrics and quality measures to support timely and accurate test results. + Unpack incoming specimens and route them to the correct staging and processing areas. + Pack and ship specimens to designated testing facilities when required. + Properly prepare, label, and store excess specimen samples according to laboratory protocols. + Identify, resolve, and document issues with problem specimens, following established procedures. + Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines. + Comply with all applicable environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures. + Operate automated laboratory instrumentation under supervision when necessary. + Work both independently and collaboratively with team members to maintain efficient laboratory operations. Essential Skills + High school diploma or equivalent. + 0u20132 years of work experience; no prior experience required, but 1u20132 years is preferred. + Comfort working with human biological specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples. + Strong data entry experience with accurate and efficient typing skills. + Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office. Work Environment Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Gibsonville, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
