Overview The Dance Instructor will teach participants various dance techniques and forms, incorporating style,performance, and choreography elements in their educational approach. The Dance Instructor will build acurriculum and tailor lesson plans according to student strengths and weaknesses to maximize growth. Specifically, the primary duties are: u2022 Prepare and teach dance techniques.u2022 Set up class space before class begins.u2022 Show students how to warm up, cool down, and move safely.u2022 Create weekly lesson plans and provide them to the direct supervisor.u2022 Study and practice multiple dance techniques and styles, staying up to date with the latest musictrends.u2022 Choreograph performances for quarterly dance recitals and produce seasonal recitals to showcasestudent progress.u2022 Collaborate with other teaching artists to create specific works for annual events and ensembleperformances.u2022 Report equipment and prop problems to the supervisor.u2022 Evaluate students and provide written feedback to the direct supervisor and program participants.u2022 Attend organizational meetings.u2022 Maintain a clean and organized workspace.u2022 Perform other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications u2022 High School diploma or GED required.u2022 Two (2) or more years of experience teaching dance.u2022 Proven experience managing small and large groups; prior experience teaching children is preferred.u2022 Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively withother teachers.u2022 Excellent work ethic, positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to perform assigned tasks.u2022 Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. u2022 Must be able to pass a criminal background check.u2022 Must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
