Job Summary and Qualifications The Laboratory Phlebotomist performs collections of blood samples and specimens efficiently and appropriately following hospital and department standards and policies. Under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, the Phlebotomist may also perform routine technical functions, CLIA waived analyses and quality control. What you will do in this role: + You will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods. + You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required. + You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer. + You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments + You will assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.
