Job Title: Accessioning Clerk Department: Laboratory Reports To: Accessioning Supervisor FLSA Status: Full-Time Non-Exempt Hourly Prepared Date: March 19th, 2021 Approved By: Human Resources Approved Date: Position Summary: The Accessioning clerk is responsible for the receiving, sorting, labeling, and the processing of daily specimens that are to be analyzed and reported. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. u2022 Receive packages from FedEx and samples from couriers, u2022 Sort samples according to protocol, u2022 Perform QA, and specimen container check, u2022 Perform scanning and imaging for billing, u2022 Perform initial data entry in LIS, u2022 Prepare samples for send-outs to reference laboratories, u2022 Record discrepancies and communicating these errors to Supervisor and Client Services, u2022 Collaborates with other internal departments to achieve business demands, u2022 Other duties as directed by direct supervisor. Non-Essential Duties: None Supervisory Responsibilities: None Education and Experience: u2022 High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience accessioning specimens, required. u2022 Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience accessioning specimens, preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None Skills and Abilities: u2022 Proficiency in Computer Skills, including Microsoft Suite (i.e., Outlooks, Teams), u2022 Attention to detail, u2022 Strong oral and written communication skills, u2022 Strong data entry skills, u2022 Exceptional time management skills, u2022 Efficiency in sorting and labeling. Other Qualifications, if applicable: u2022 Ensure all company safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met, u2022 Knowledge of Standard of Operations (SOP's) related to performing patient phlebotomy and use of proper PPE, u2022 Maintain compliance with local, federal, HIPAA, CLIA, and CAP regulations. Work Conditions: u2022 Accessioning position requires extended periods of sitting or standing at a workstation while working on a computer. u2022 Ability to lift, up to 30 lbs. u2022 Must use fingers, handles and arms 75% of time to perform the work of accessioning.
