Job Summary and Qualifications Under the general supervision of the Director of Surgical Support Services, the Transporter is responsible for the safe transport of patients according to hospital policies to/from the Surgical Support Department. Applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age specific needs. Assist nurses with patient care and repositioning. responsible for keeping PACU supplies stocked. What you will do in this role: + Apply basic principles of infection control required for the fulfillment of position responsibilities. + Organizes time efficiently to meet position responsibilities in collaboration with the Director. + Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Surgical Support. + Transports patients to and from department, after proper identification of patients, in a timely manner to minimize potential delays in department schedule. + Assured that the patient is properly clothed and covered to maintain dignity. + Notifies appropriate personnel of patient's arrival in the department. + Thoroughly cleans the wheelchairs and stretchers with appropriate disinfectants daily or as needed. + Check all transport equipment for safety risks and reports needed repairs to management. + Consistently, it remains in the work area assisting unless otherwise requested. + Communicate effectively with patients, department personnel, and other personnel in the hospital to fulfill position responsibilities. + Receives and records telephone messages for the department in a courteous and professional manner. + Prioritizes activities of self in collaboration with the Director of Surgical Support based on department demands. + Maintains own growth through the utilization of workshops, in-services, and other self-directed learning activities. + Maintains awareness of current hospital and departmental operational policies and procedures which impact on position responsibilities. + Actively participates in departmental meetings with a focus on providing input regarding improving the quality of services in the department.
