Job Title: Project Architect u2013 Healthcare Job Description This role offers an experienced Project Architect the opportunity to lead technically complex healthcare projects, including hospitals and surgery centers, from early design through construction documentation. You will combine strong design sensibilities with advanced technical skills to manage implementation documents, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and guide clients through a research-driven design process that improves lives. Responsibilities + Lead internal technical teams and external consultants to ensure healthcare projects are designed and documented accurately and in alignment with project goals. + Work closely with the Project Manager to develop and manage project schedules, establish deadlines, and keep work on track across all phases. + Prepare, review, and coordinate construction and implementation documents to meet quality standards and firm guidelines. + Manage technical design and coordination for assigned portions of projects, with a focus on hospitals and surgery centers. + Review building codes and zoning requirements and ensure assigned project areas comply with all applicable regulations. + Coordinate with internal teams and outside consultants by leading coordination meetings and work sessions. + Communicate regularly with clients, helping guide them through the design process and responding to questions and feedback. + Collaborate with project managers, clients, consultants, contractors, and agencies to coordinate engineering systems and obtain required approvals. + Prepare client presentations and, when needed, present design concepts, drawings, and technical solutions. + Research materials and systems and provide technical recommendations to support project designers and design development. + Lead team meetings to address project, technical, and coordination issues and drive timely resolution. + Participate in site visits, field reviews, and project meetings as needed to observe construction and address technical questions. + Prepare and/or review meeting notes for consultant coordination meetings to ensure clear documentation of decisions and action items. + Support construction administration activities by reviewing construction documents, responding to RFIs, and assisting with production-related tasks as needed. Essential Skills + Approximately 8+ years of professional architectural experience, including substantial work on healthcare projects such as hospitals and surgery centers. + Strong knowledge of all project phases, from early design through construction documentation and construction administration. + Accredited professional degree in Architecture. + Advanced proficiency in Revit for production of construction and implementation documents. + Advanced skills in Navisworks for coordination and clash detection. + Experience with construction documents, construction drawings, and production workflows. + Demonstrated ability to manage technical design and coordination on complex projects. + Experience in healthcare architecture with a technical focus on hospitals and surgery centers. + Ability to interpret and apply building codes and zoning requirements to project designs. + Strong communication skills for collaborating with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams. + Experience supporting project management activities, including scheduling and coordination. + Architectural registration is highly preferred or active progress toward licensure. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Basic proficiency in Dynamo, Grasshopper, and related computational design tools. + Basic experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for presentations and graphic communication. + Basic experience with SketchUp for 3D modeling and visualization. + Experience in design development for healthcare projects and other building types. + Experience in project management, including coordination of multidisciplinary teams. + Experience with construction administration processes, including field reviews and coordination with contractors. + Interest in research-driven and data-informed design approaches. + Motivation to grow into greater leadership responsibilities within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Work Environment + You will work in a mid-sized architecture firm of approximately 50 people, within an open-space studio environment that encourages collaboration and easy communication. + You will have your own dedicated desk in a beautiful office with a welcoming atmosphere and a well-appointed kitchen, and you may occasionally greet visitors as they arrive.
