Job Title: Vessel Welder Job Description We are seeking skilled Vessel Welders to join our team. The role involves welding on storage tanks, spheres, and water towers, ranging from 23ft to 43ft. You will be utilizing stick and flux core welding techniques, with approximately 20% of the time spent on stick welding. The work involves welding carbon steel up to 3 inches thick, and requires proficiency in back gouging for 100% x-ray welds. Responsibilities + Perform welding on storage tanks, spheres, and water towers using stick and flux core methods. + Back gouge as part of the welding process to ensure 100% x-ray quality. + Operate an overhead crane to assist with welding tasks. + Read and interpret blueprints and isometric drawings to perform precise welding and fabrication tasks. + Conduct own layouts and fit-ups for welding projects. Requirements + 4+ years of experience as a vessel welder. + Ability to pass 2G and 3G weld tests and perform back gouging. + Proficiency in welding using flux core and stick methods. + Experience in operating an overhead crane. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in fitting is a plus. + Recent experience passing 2G and 3G tests with stick and flux core. + Experience fabricating storage tanks, vessels, and towers. + Ability to fit pipe or willingness to learn. + Familiarity with isometric drawings for fabrication tasks. Work Environment The work environment is a large, non-climate controlled shop with heavy equipment, emphasizing safety as a top priority. You will start on the day shift working from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. After six months, you will rotate to the night shift from 4:15 p.m. to 2:45 a.m., Monday through Friday, with a shift differential provided during this period. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77064. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.50 - $30.00/hr.
