Desktop/Field Support Engineer (Hospital IT Support) L1 Overview / Summary We are seeking a Field Support Desktop Engineer with experience in healthcare IT environments to support a 24/7 hospital support team during the 3rd shift (midnightu20138:00am). This role focuses on imaging, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktops and laptops while minimizing downtime for hospital staff. The position works closely with clinical users and IT teams to support systems that directly impact patient care. Key Responsibilities + Install, configure, repair, and maintain desktops, laptops, and peripherals across hospital departments. + Create, maintain, and deploy operating system images using enterprise imaging tools (e.g., SCCM, MDT). + Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues both on-site and remotely. + Support PC refresh initiatives, user moves, hardware upgrades, and hospital-wide IT projects. + Respond to technical issues related to clinical systems, workstation-on-wheels (WOWs), and EMR terminals. + Provision, profile, deploy, and troubleshoot mobile devices using MobileIron MDM. + Communicate issue status, resolutions, and technical recommendations to clinical users, IT teams, and leadership. + Ensure all support activities meet HIPAA requirements and hospital IT security policies. + Document procedures, configurations, issue resolutions, and asset inventory. + Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours emergency support as needed. Required Qualifications + Associateu2019s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience. + Prior desktop engineering or field support experience in a hospital or clinical environment. + Expertise in desktop and laptop imaging, configuration, and deployment. + Knowledge of Windows operating systems, device drivers, and endpoint security. + Experience or training in scripting (PowerShell, VBScript, Batch). + Familiarity with IT ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or Zendesk. + Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. + Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical and clinical teams. + Strong prioritization, multitasking, communication, and problem-solving skills. + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and provide hands-on support throughout hospital facilities. + Comfort working in patient care areas and following hospital protocols. Preferred Experience (a Plus) + Experience with CrowdStrike, Rapid7, or N-Able. + A+ Certification. + Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. + Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI data handling, and ITIL best practices. + Experience supporting EMR systems and clinical workflows.
