Daimler Truck North America LLC seeks Systems Integration Engineer III at 13400 Outer Drive West, Detroit, MI 48239. This hybrid role requires working from home and on-site at the Detroit office, so candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Position requires up to 5% domestic travel annually.Job duties: Lead the integration of Hydrocarbon and DEF injections systems into all Freightliner and Western Star Heavy Duty and Medium Duty vehicle platforms as well as Freightliner Export vehicles. Drive the continuous design, performance and cost improvement of the hydrocarbon injections systems and DEF injection systems to fulfill the requirements for future. Functional vehicle building and testing of conventional & alternative powertrain systems with a focus on end vehicle applications. Lead idea creation and execution to continuously improve vehicle testing processes, data acquisition techniques, and tools. Actively participate in both regional & global, cross-functional teams to align vehicle powertrain testing practices, vehicle data processing and vehicle data analytics Provide technical guidance on all shop processes & infrastructure requirements to support powertrain vehicle testing. Actively support remote test seasons to meet powertrain project milestones (ex: winter testing, summer testing). Provide on-site powertrain expertise and support for TN engineering functions. Thoroughly document development activity, draw conclusions, and make recommendations. Actively report results to engineering community, including sr. management. Regularly communicate work status to engineering and management, identifying project issues, delays, and risks. Actively participate in cross-functional teams to advance vehicle performance & CX topics to define appropriate tests and metrics, utilizing aspects of benchmarking and product back-to-back studies. Investigate powertrain issues and lead resolution implementation.Minimum Requirements: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related field and 7 years of experience in Powertrain Systems Integration. Experience must include at least 5 years of experience with: Flashing and parameterizing electronic control units (ECUs); Engine service, software calibration, and technical parts management; Use of software tools including MARC, CANape, and other Vector products (e.g., CANalyzer); and Program management, design verification planning (DVP), Daimler change management, and release processes. Must also have experience with: Leading technical exchanges and collaborations with global suppliers and international teams; Product development, quality and sustaining activities for Daimler hydrocarbon and DEF injection systems in the heavy/medium-duty markets; Collaborating with cross-functional global teams (design, manufacturing, quality, and marketing) to develop products meeting technical, functional, cost, and efficiency requirements; Leading department and cross-functional programs involving significant risk, resource needs, and complexity; Using sophisticated analytical tools and methods to identify root causes of complex system issues and develop innovative solutions; Troubleshooting and resolving complex vehicle powertrain issues, including diesel engines, alternative fuel internal combustion engines (hydrogen, biofuel), hybrid ICE systems, and exhaust aftertreatment technologies; and Driving continuous improvement in system performance and warranty cost reduction.
