As Chief Actuary,you will play a central rolein thefinancial management, product development, and risk assessment functions of our life insurance business. The positionprovides executive leadership and strategic oversight of all actuarial functions for Directors Investment Group and its subsidiaries,beingresponsible forensuring the accuracy of actuarial calculations, supporting financial reporting, analyzing profitability, and contributing to strategicdecision makingacross the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong technical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts to both technical and nontechnicalaudiences. TheChief Actuary partners with executive leadership to ensure financial soundness, long-term profitability, and alignment with DIG’s mission and growthobjectives.Key ResponsibilitiesReserve Computation & Financial ReportingCompute, analyze, and manage statutory and tax reserves for life insurance and annuity products.Maintain and enhance actuarial models used for valuation and projections.Prepare monthly financial statement exhibits for actuarial items, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.Lead or support the preparation of the Annual Statement actuarial components, including Actuarial Exhibits and supporting documentation.Prepare the Actuarial Memorandum and other regulatory filings, ensuring compliance with applicable state and NAIC requirements.Assistwithyear-endaudit support, including responding to auditor inquiries and providing required documentation.Product Development & Profitability AnalysisDesign, price, and evaluate new life and annuity products, including modeling, assumption setting, and competitive analysis.Analyze product profitability and performancerelativeto pricing expectations, experience studies, and company targets.Conduct profitability analysis for distribution and marketing partners, including compensation structures, persistency, and experience trends.Collaborate withcross-functionalteams (Marketing, Finance, Operations, Compliance) to support product launches and ongoing product management.Experience Studies & Claims AnalysisPerform analysis of death claims, including mortality experience studies, trend identification, and assumption recommendations.Conduct experience studies for lapse, expense, morbidity (if applicable), and other key actuarial assumptions.Recommend updates to actuarial assumptions based on emerging experience and industry trends.Modeling & Software ProficiencyBuild,maintain, andvalidateactuarial models using Slope Actuarial software (primary platform).Ensure model governance, documentation, and controls aremaintainedin accordance withactuarial standards and internal policies.Utilizeadditionalactuarial and analytical tools as needed (e.g., SQL, R, Python, Excel).Risk Management & Strategic SupportSupport enterprise risk management activities, including stress testing, scenario analysis, andORSArelatedwork.Assistwith cashflow testing and asset adequacy analysis.Provideactuarial insights to support strategic initiatives, capital management, and reinsurance transactions.Cross FunctionalCollaboration & CommunicationPresent actuarial findings to senior leadership, auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders.Translate complex actuarial results into clear, actionable insights fornonactuarialteams.Support internal committees and working groups related to product, financial reporting, and risk.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or relatedfield.Progress toward ASA or FSA designation (or equivalent experience).Experience in life insurance actuarial work, including valuation, product development, or financial reporting.Proficiencywith Slope Actuarial softwareis stronglypreferred; experience with other actuarial modeling platforms is a plus.Strong analytical,problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in afast-pacedenvironment.About Directors Investment GroupDirectors Investment Group is the parent corporation for Funeral Directors Life Insurance Company, Passare, and Parkway Advisors.DIGoffers an award-winning workplace that is truly one-of-a-kind.DIGhas been recognized with numerous workplace awards, including the 2025 Big Country’s Best Workplace, the prestigiousFORTUNEmagazine “Best Small & Medium Workplaces” List, the “Best Workplaces in Finance & Insurance” List, the “Best Workplaces for Millennials” List, and the “Best Workplaces in Texas” List.
