Job Description

Description We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join our team in New York, New York in a Contract to Permanent capacity. This role focuses on managing receivables, addressing billing concerns, and supporting timely payment collection while preserving strong client relationships. The ideal candidate brings a proactive approach to account follow-up, sound judgment in resolving payment issues, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: u2022 Prepare and analyze accounts receivable aging reports to identify overdue balances and prioritize collection activity. u2022 Manage a portfolio of open accounts, conducting consistent follow-up to secure payment and improve overall account status. u2022 Contact customers by phone and written communication in a thorough manner to obtain payment while maintaining positive business relationships. u2022 Investigate billing questions and collaborate on resolutions that help clear outstanding invoices and reduce delinquent accounts. u2022 Track payment commitments and follow through on agreed arrangements to ensure deadlines are met. u2022 Monitor collection performance and communicate recurring delinquency trends or risk factors to management. u2022 Distribute supporting documentation to customers as needed and follow up to move accounts toward resolution. u2022 Handle sensitive records with discretion and remain compliant with applicable company policies and regulatory requirements. Requirements u2022 At least 2 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a closely related credit and billing function. u2022 Background in commercial collections, consumer collections, or both. u2022 Working knowledge of collection procedures, payment follow-up practices, and delinquency management. u2022 Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. u2022 Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and internal teams. u2022 Ability to assess account issues, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions. u2022 Demonstrated ability to contribute as a collaborative team member while managing assignments independently.
