Select your correct bargaining unit FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN A REJECTED BID APPLICATION The City of Chicagou2019s Department of Assets, Information and Services is seeking Fleet Services Supervisors to oversee Fleet Services Assistants working in a vehicle maintenance facility performing non-skilled and manual work in the routine maintenance and servicing of City vehicles and automotive equipment and performs related duties as required. _ESSENTIAL DUTIES_ u2022 As first-line supervisors, prepares work schedules, makes daily work assignments and prioritizes work orders to ensure the efficiency of work operations u2022 Reviews daily manpower and re-allocates staff to ensure proper shift coverage u2022 Implements safety procedures to minimize accidents and promotes a safe work environment; conducts safety training and provides instruction on safety practices u2022 Monitors work performance and prepares performance evaluations; initiates and enforces disciplinary actions; approves time off requests u2022 Prepares accident and injury reports; maintains productivity records and prepares work reports u2022 Monitors work activities of Fleet Services Assistants to ensure efficiency, timeliness, and adherence to established quality standards u2022 Instructs Fleet Services Assistants in performing preventative maintenance work, including oil and filter changes, lubrication of grease fittings, and checking air pressure on tires u2022 Reviews work orders and related reports to ensure proper servicing of vehicles including checking for proper tire-pressure and replenishing of automotive fluids u2022 Orders needed supplies of lubricants, automotive fluids, and cleaning solvents u2022 Inventories and stores supplies to ensure adequate levels are maintained u2022 Inspects work areas to ensure garage floors are kept clean and free of potential hazards u2022 Updates computerized records on vehicles serviced u2022 Assists Fleet Services Assistants in performing the more difficult attendant duties as needed u2022 Monitors work activities at fuel stations, traveling to stations to inspect operating conditions and ensuring sites are clean and free of debris, fuel pumps are working properly u2022 Ensures Fleet Services Assistants are providing needed services to vehicles including checking oil and other fluids u2022 Responds to problems at stations reported by Fleet Services Assistants, including inspecting pumps to identify malfunctions and requesting repairs needed u2022 Conducts safety inspections, ensuring area surrounding underground fuel tanks remain clear and accessible at all times to allow for refueling u2022 Checks and ensures proper records are being maintained including required EPA vapor recovery reports, and manual logs of vehicles arriving at fuel station, type of fuel (e.g., gas, diesel, compressed gas) dispensed, and other services provided _Additional duties may be required for this position_ Location: ENGLEWOOD MAINTENANCE GARAGE; 210 WEST 69 TH STREET POLICE MAINTENANCE GARAGE ONE (1); 5219 SOUTH WENTWORTH AVENUE Days: Monday through Friday (Saturday and Sundays off) Hours: 7:00 am u2013 3:30 pm THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS u00b7 One year of automotive maintenance work experience in an automotive repair shop or car dealership, OR u00b7 A training certificate from a recognized school or training center in automotive maintenance, PLUS six (6) months of automotive maintenance work experience in an automotive repair shop or car dealership Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications u00b7 Must possess and maintain a valid State of Illinois driver's license _NOTE:_ _You must provide your valid U.S. driver's license at time of processing._ _NOTE:_ You must provide your professional licenses, training certificates and/or transcripts/diplomas at time of processing, if applicable SELECTION REQUIREMENTS This position requires applicants to successfully pass skills assessment tests and complete an interview. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after the test results have been analyzed and compiled. The candidates that receive a passing score on the skills assessment test will be invited to interview for the position. Candidate(s) receiving a passing score on the test and possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral interview, will be selected according to the cba.
