Alumni excel throughout all areas of fashion and lifestyle and have gone on to work for companies such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Microsoft, Nordstrom, Nike, Ross Stores, Salvatore Ferragamo, Spotify, and Ulta Beauty SALARY RANGE: $115,000 - $125,000/Annually ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Reporting to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, the Business Department chair will: • Articulate and execute a vision for the Business Core and Fashion Management & Leadership degree • Provide leadership to, and oversight of, the full and part-time faculty, departmental staff, and student workers; • Provide direction and guidance in the development of curriculum based on identified employer needs; will establish and maintain high standards for rigor in classroom and for out-of-class activities; • Recruit, hire, and retain an outstanding faculty of practitioner-teachers; • Evaluate faculty using established tools and protocols; coach/mentor those in need of support or development; • Plan for and carry out the professional development of the faculty in partnership with the Office of Learning Innovation; • Serve as an active member of the Faculty Council, the Academic Affairs Council, and the Provost Council; • Oversee the assessment of core curriculum relative to student achievement of program learning outcomes and other key metrics; • Collaborate with fellow department chairs and deans in the development of academic policies and procedures; • Teach at least one course per semester during the regular academic year; • Actively seek out and promote opportunities for student-faculty collaborations, industry partnerships, student competitions, and similar activities; • Prepare departmental reports or updates as requested; • Maintain a commitment to, and an environment in support of, academic freedom, professionalism, fairness; • Advocate for the students’ best academic and professional interests including lending expertise in business professionalism PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS: Accomplishment of stated yearly goals. Documents and reports are delivered on time, accurately produced and up-to-date, and files are well-maintained. Good communication and coordination exist with all department heads. A professional image is projected and maintained. Implementation of best practices where appropriate. REQUIREMENTS: The person selected will have the following qualifications: Education: • Must hold an MBA degree; Required Knowledge: • Experience or familiarity with ACBSP accreditation criteria and process strongly preferred; • Proficiency with core business technology, including AI applications highly desirable • Mastery and innovative use of the latest in retail technologies; • Familiarity with the Canvas (or similar) learning management system strongly desired.
